Catherine graduated Florida Coastal School of Law in 2013, this being her third career. She previously worked for Prudential Insurance Company and Aetna Insurance Company for 13 years, and then operated a personal business for 15 years. During law school, she worked as a law clerk for the Law Office of Amy Warpinski, a Liberty Mutual Company, and served as a Pupil in the E. Robert Williams Inn of Court, which supported the Workers’ Compensation industry.
After graduating law school, Catherine served as an Administrative Law Judge for the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, Reemployment Assistance Appeals, for three and a half years. Wanting to increase her litigation experience, she left the State and joined Dutton Law Group, a state-wide insurance defense firm, and worked primarily in PIP litigation, but also handled employment law and family law issues. After two and a half years she wanted to further develop her insurance defense expertise, so she joined the Fernandez Trial Lawyers family.
While in law school and thereafter, Catherine volunteered as a Juvenile Criminal Sentencing Judge in Clay County’s Teen Court program for seven years. During her time there she helped coach Mock Trial teams in two competitions, and taught student attorney-training and public speaking classes to youth.
Outside of work, Catherine enjoys spending time with her five grandchildren and her German Shepherd, Scout. She enjoys participating in Triathlons, hiking, scuba diving, skydiving, and camping. She is an avid runner, has hiked the Georgia portion of the Appalachian Trail, and has aspirations to finish it.
