Prior to joining Fernandez Trial Lawyers, DeAnna served as the Chief Compliance Officer in the healthcare industry; and served as a trial attorney in Jacksonville and Tallahassee, Florida, defending healthcare providers, governmental entities and private retailers. Her experience also includes insurance defense and general liability, labor and employment, employment discrimination and wrongful termination. Prior to working on civil cases, DeAnna provided legal representation as a Florida Assistant Public Defender for the Fourth Judicial Circuit. While in law school, she received a Florida Bar Foundation Public Service Fellowship enabling her to work with the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida, where she worked on various civil liberties cases, constitutional issues, and provided support on public policy matters. Throughout law school, she was a member of the Coastal Law Mock Trial Team; served as president of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA); and was the executive marketing editor of the 2007-2008 SRBLSA Law Journal. DeAnna attended Alabama A&M on athletic scholarship and was named South Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Year as a senior.
